Bowman Waste Heat Recovery Technology
The Bowman Exhaust Gas Heat Exchangers (EGHE) are designed to recover valuable waste heat energy from the exhaust stream of engine-powered Combined Heat & Power (CHP) systems. By harvesting this energy source, the overall efficiency of a generating set can be elevated from approximately 30% (power only) up to 80%+ when combined with heat recovery from other engine areas.
Key Benefits
- Elevated Gen-set Efficiency
- Increases overall gen-set efficiency to 80% and beyond by reclaiming up to 50% of the fuel input as valuable heat energy.
- Harvests energy at no additional fuel cost or CO2 generation.
- High-Quality Structural Integrity
- Fully welded, all stainless steel construction handles extreme exhaust gas temperatures.
- Automated tube end welding and 100% inspection ensure maximum reliability.
- Ease of Maintenance
- Renowned shell and tube design combines excellent heat transfer performance with simple maintenance.
- Right angle end cover options allow tubes to be cleaned without disrupting surrounding pipework.
- Versatile Application Choice
- Suitable for engines up to 1MW using Biogas, Diesel, or Natural Gas.
- Extensively proven in commercial, industrial, space heating, and district hot water installations globally.
Key Features
- Shell and Tube Design: Time-proven configuration facilitating highly efficient heat transfer and straightforward physical installation.
- PN6 Flanges: Built to BS EN1092 on end cover and shell side connections for easy system integration.
- Integrated Pressure Relief Valve: Automatically activates if pressure exceeds 4 bar on the shell/water side as an inherent safety feature.
- Comprehensive Specifications: Supplied with standard mounting brackets, drain plugs, and dedicated bosses for vents and temperature sensors.
